Applications
This uncoated cutting solution in the RT100 grade is a practical choice for the demanding lathe machining of aluminum and soft non-ferrous metals. Thanks to its round design, the tool is excellently suited for profile turning, radius machining, and creating complex workpiece contours. It supports efficient workflows in modern CNC turning centers as well as on conventional machines when continuous cutting conditions are present. Furthermore, this insert can also be utilized very effectively for machining engineering plastics.
Special features
The positive chipbreaker reduces the cutting forces that arise and creates ideal conditions for achieving fine surface finishes. The uncoated K10-K15 substrate of the RT100 series is characterized by particularly high edge sharpness, which effectively counteracts the undesirable formation of built-up edges during aluminum machining. With the available insert sizes, the system opens up flexible application possibilities for various depths of cut ranging from 0.1 mm up to 6.0 mm at stable feed rates.
