High-Performance Machining in Deep Cavities

The 4-flute solid carbide HPC torus cutters with corner radius and neck relief are specifically designed for demanding high-performance cutting. The integrated neck relief provides crucial clearance for machining deeper workpiece sections without the shank colliding with the walls. At the same time, the corner radius distributes the cutting forces over a larger edge area. This reduces edge wear and increases process reliability, as the reinforced corners are significantly less prone to chipping. Preventing sharp internal edges also improves the overall strength of the workpiece, while creating particularly smooth and uniform transitions during finishing and contour milling. The optimized geometry enables consistently high feed rates per tooth.

Applications

This end mill is optimally adapted for high-performance cutting (HPC) in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Thanks to the neck relief, it is particularly suitable for pocket milling, shoulder milling, and contour milling in deeper cavities where standard cutters reach their limits. Since the tool is center cutting, axial plunging operations and ramping are also reliably supported.

Special features

The combination of a neck relief and a corner radius makes this tool a highly flexible solution in professional CNC environments. The TiAlN coating of the high-performance grade RT405 reliably protects against thermal stress and premature wear. Available with either a Weldon or a cylindrical shank, the torus cutter can be securely clamped in various tool holders, supporting highly efficient workflows.
