Professional HSS-PM tap for through holes
When cutting metric threads in challenging or abrasive materials, conventional tools often reach their limits. This HSS-PM tap combines the toughness of high-speed steel with the edge stability of powder-metallurgical materials. The result is a resilient threading tool for through holes that accurately forms 60° flank angles. The additional TiAlN (Titanium Aluminum Nitride) coating minimizes friction and efficiently dissipates cutting heat, significantly supporting the machining of everything from structural steel to stainless steel and cast iron.

Applications
Threading in through holes requires a controlled chip flow in the feed direction. Thanks to its special cutting edge geometry, this HSS-PM tap pushes the chips safely downwards and out of the workpiece. This effectively prevents chip jams and tool breakage. The design is excellently suited for machine use in modern manufacturing environments, CNC machining centers, and demanding maintenance tasks.
Due to its broad material compatibility, the tool reliably covers the machining of structural steel, tool steel, stainless steel, cast iron, as well as aluminum alloys and brass. This characteristic minimizes setup times and reduces the need for a wide variety of tools in the workshop.
Special features
A key feature is the powder-metallurgical production of the cutting material. It ensures a fine, homogeneous structure without disruptive carbide accumulations, giving the tool an excellent combination of wear resistance and toughness. Tool life is noticeably promoted compared to conventional HSS-E taps.
The TiAlN hard coating also offers high oxidation resistance. This makes the system suitable for demanding cutting speeds of up to 55 m/min in structural steel or 35 m/min in cast iron and aluminum. The carefully ground cutting edges ensure consistently high dimensional accuracy of the produced threads.
