High-performance counterbore for professional metalworking
This flat countersink is specifically designed to create 180° counterbores for the installation of socket head cap screws and set screws. The "fine" clearance grade aims for a highly precise fit, allowing the screw head to be seated accurately within the workpiece. A key feature is the fixed guide pin, which securely centers the tool in the pre-drilled hole, assisting in perfect alignment. Manufactured from cobalt-alloyed high-speed steel (HSS-E), the tool offers remarkable heat tolerance, ensuring reliable performance even in demanding materials. With its three flutes and standard cylindrical shank, it provides a well-thought-out solution for efficient workflows in industrial and trade applications.

Applications
The countersinking tool is primarily used in mechanical engineering, plant construction, and metal fabrication to accurately enlarge clearance holes for socket head cap screws. Thanks to its HSS-E quality, the flat counterbore is suitable not only for general structural and tempered steels but also for more challenging materials such as stainless steel or abrasive aluminum alloys. The fixed pilot pin engages with the existing hole, reliably keeping the tool from wandering during the machining process.
The "fine" grade is especially recommended when a very tight tolerance between the screw head and the workpiece contour is required. This supports the mechanical connection in meeting high visual and functional standards.
Special features
The cobalt-alloyed cutting material significantly increases the hot hardness of the counterbore, leading to stable tool usability, particularly when machining stainless steel and tougher steel alloys. The three precision-ground flutes ensure uniform material removal, minimize vibrations, and leave a clean surface finish in the counterbore. The standardized cylindrical shank allows for quick and straightforward clamping in common drill chucks and collets.
