The VBGW ...-1N RTD10 PCD-Insert is a specialized solution designed for high-speed aluminum turning. Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) is a synthetically produced, extremely hard, intergrown mass of randomly oriented diamond particles in a metal matrix. This provides excellent wear resistance when machining non-ferrous materials and plastics. Important application note: For abrasive materials such as aluminum with a high silicon content, brass and brass alloys as well as brittle plastics and glass-fiber reinforced materials, you need this VBGW turning insert. For aluminum with a low silicon content and soft materials with long chip formation, you need the VBGT turning insert with a positive rake angle.
