Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) is a synthetically produced, extremely hard, intergrown mass of randomly oriented diamond particles in a metal matrix. This specific DCGW shape is highly recommended for abrasive workpiece materials such as aluminum with high silicon content (up to 12% Si), brass, brittle plastics, and glass-fiber reinforced materials. For non-abrasive aluminum with low silicon content or soft materials producing long chips, a DCGT insert with a positive rake angle is required. The tools are supplied in a convenient packaging unit of 2 pieces.
