High-performance machining with PCD
The PCD-Insert VCGW ...-1N RTD10 is engineered for professional turning operations on abrasive non-ferrous metals and plastics. Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) is a synthetically produced, extremely hard mass of randomly oriented diamond particles intergrown in a metal matrix. This structure creates excellent conditions for prolonged tool life and reliable results during high-speed aluminum turning. Attention: This VCGW geometry is mandatory for abrasive workpieces like high-silicon aluminum, brass, brittle plastics, and glass-fiber reinforced materials. Conversely, the VCGT geometry is required for soft aluminum with low silicon content and long chip formation.

Applications
This insert is perfectly matched for high-speed machining of aluminum alloys with a silicon content of up to 12%. It serves as a highly practical solution for demanding turning tasks involving non-ferrous metals, brass alloys, and abrasive composites such as fiberglass. Industrial professionals benefit from the robust insert geometry, which has been specifically developed to handle abrasive machining conditions efficiently.
Special features
Thanks to the specialized RTD10 grade, the cutting edge withstands the intense wear commonly associated with high-silicon materials. The random orientation of the diamond particles within the metal matrix supports high edge stability and ensures controlled wear. This makes the tool a well-thought-out choice for maintaining consistent precision even during complex contouring operations.
